SG is sinking - Murders '05

Today, I want all fellow Singaporeans to think. What has our country
become in the years since the Asian Financial Crisis?

One of the most important issues I want to bring to everyone's attention is
this - Security. The government has always boasted about how safe SG is, how
crime rate is low here etc. But are we really safe? Is the crime rate really low?

Not quite! The governing of this country has seriously deteriorated in the last few
years. No need to look far. Just look at our Murder statistics for Year 2005 alone.

A forummer on Sammyboy collected the data showing the number of murders
in SG from Jan 05 to Oct 05. You can view it here and here. (Pls zoom to read.)

Before you exclaim that 30 murders aren't a lot, and that compared to other
countries, this is nothing, please use your brain to think! Sg has a population
of only 4 million. A tiny nation which could never be plotted on the World Map,
no matter how much land the government is trying to reclaim. A first world
country which has NO big-scale civil disobedience or workers-strikes in history.
A first world country which has a high percentage of educated people.

Not to mention, a small country which has 80+ politicians in the government,
(of which, numerous are paid higher than the President of USA- a country
thousands of times bigger than SG) and countless bureaucrats in the 100+
statutory boards. But what are these people doing? Or rather, what are these
fat cats, on the payroll of taxpayers doing for our country?

WHO are they serving??

The murders are just the tip of the iceberg. Ever since the government open
up the gates to welcome foreigners onto our shores, we saw an influx of problems
as well. Problems that resulted in the extreme pressure and stress on the true-
born SG citizens that we have never anticipated before. I'm not against foreigners,
but SHOULD we welcome any Tom Dick or Harry with open arms? Last i read, a
Jack West, who was a convicted paedophile in USA was given a licence in SG to
teach children. I am definitely very interested what set of criteria did our
government agencies use when approving his licence to teach.

I won't say too much for now, but draw your own conclusions after giving enough serious
thoughts to our social issues. Is SG still the ideal place to set up a family or to raise kids?

Don't kid ourselves!
